
The MIDI In Music Education Special Interest Group (MIME)
The MIDI Association’s MIDI In Music Education Special Interest Group serves to allow artists, researchers, and other practitioners in the music creation and production community to interact directly with MIDI Association companies, participate in MIDI Association projects, access MIDI specification under development and discuss issues on the MIDI Association’s private corporate forum related to MIDI In Music Education.
Fostering discussion and collaboration, the MIME Special Interest Group will advocate for the needs of educators.
Topic and purpose (goal) of this WG:
To raise awareness about MIDI in education at schools (secondary, college and university, and pro schools), and for manufacturer and reseller staff members.
SAE Mexico, The NAMM MIDI Fund and The MIDI Association
SAE Mexico has been selected to begin work on The MIDI Association’s MIDI In Music Education curriculum by the NAMM Foundation.
SAE Mexico will provide the curriculum materials in both English and Spanish and have a unique relationship with Coursera, the massive open online course provider so the curriculum and certification will be available at no charge.
All of the materials created for The MIDI In Music Education curriculum will also be provided under a Creative Common license.
This means anyone is free to take the materials, modify and adapt them for whatever purpose that is needed.
Universities can include portions in their already existing materials without any concerns about copyrights or licenses.
