Gentlemen, if you have a "Roland2midi" program, please share it with me, I can't find it on the Internet. Thanks.

For informational purposes, roland2midi converts proprietary Roland file formats rsc/rsd (saved by many old Roland synths) in to mid files.

The original website for the program still exists, though the site currently has an error on the main page.
I found the direct links through archive.org
It didn't have the files, but I had it index the download page, so all three versions are there now. There is a Linux, Windows, and Mac version.

Windows version direct download: https://asgerix.dk/file/roland2midi.exe

Jason, thank you. I downloaded the file, but it doesn't start, no reaction, and on behalf of the administrator, too, I have Windows 7.

You have to run it in a command prompt window. It is only command line and does not have a graphical user interface.

The web page has instructions and examples of how to use it.
Usage examples: If you have the files JW50_001.RSC and JW50_001.RSD, run the program from a shell like this:

roland2midi JW50_001

If the song is called "My song", the program will create a file called "My song.mid".
If the rsc and rsd files does not have the same basenames, you can specify the filenames separately, like this:

roland2midi -rsc JW50_001.RSC -rsd JW50_001.RSD

And you can choose another name for the output file:

roland2midi JW50_001 -o mysong.mid
There are further examples on the web page.

It also has an online converter option, but since the actual website is not working correctly, I do not know if the archive version will work, but you could give that a try as well.

Jason, maybe someone downloaded this program earlier when everything was working.

Something seriously wrong with this prog?

I downloaded the .exe file, and I've just had a quick look at the contents. The file is about 1.1 Mb, which is rather large for a console mode prog, even for Windows. the beginning looks like it could be a Windows .EXE, a lot of the middle of the file data looks like it might be a C/C++ program, but there is a LOT of plain text reference to functions towards the end many of which seem to be more to do with money that midi or music. Seems to me that much of the file could be for an intermediate file connected with the compile process, rather than the final .exe program. A compile process that has gone wrong? Maybe the directory this file has come from has been damaged?

I tried to run the prog, and it locked up my computer, and after the reset the program had gone. There was no sign of any screen messages, which I would have expected, so very messed up.

Can you upload a sample rsc and rsd file? It runs fine on my computer, at least as far as I can go with no files to convert.

Converted to Sakura.mid

Attached is a screenshot of the conversion and of the instruments. Banks 80 and 81 don't match to any instruments in the lists or soundfonts I have, so most likely will play with the default bank 0 instruments.

Are you all set then, or do you still need a step by step to know how to run it?
