This has been happening a lot lately. Generally the first time I load the forum, and some times 3 or 4 subsequent times during reload. After that it works fine. I think it started a month or two ago? It happens on my phone in Chrome and on my computer in Waterfox/Firefox.

I'm going in and out of the forum a number of times every day, and I've never seen anything like this.

I would assume that this is some sort of incompatibility between your browsers, i.e. the specific edition of your browsers, and the code of the forum.

I'm using a fairly old version of FireFox, the same version that I've been using for some years. I know that this version does not work correctly on some parts of some web sites, but there's not much I can do about it.

I see the same thing in Microsoft Edge. I hit F5 to refresh the cache and it goes away for a few days before I see it again.

@Geoff, you're probably not using the "Posts: Unread" link. That's where I occasionally see it.

What?

I don't remember any 'Posts Unread' option!

Usually, I don't actually Log In - and I doubt that Posts Unread would work properly if I've not logged in? And once I've actually logged in, I'm headed straight to do whatever it is that I've logged in to do to look for such a thing???

Correct, if you don't log in then the forum software cannot track which threads you have read.

It seems it is not just a forum error, but the midi.org website itself. I had it happen today when going directly to midi.org.

Additionally, when clicking links to other posts from inside a post, or from a google search, it is not showing me as being logged in, even though I am, so I have to log in on that specific page as well to be able to see attachments and such.

Err, I suppose one way to stop spam is to take away the "create new post" button...

That being said, I feel like this is not why the create post button is missing, and that it is indeed "MISSING".

Good news is I haven't gotten the errors listed above in the past few days :p

Regarding the missing "Create New Post" button: If anyone needs to make a new thread, you can try going to this address:

I have discovered that if you hover your mouse over a category in the thread list, the pop-up has a button to create a new post in that category.

I'm not sure what is taking MMA so long about fixing this forum's problems. 🙁
