Hello I have recently developed a program to improve in my opinion the ergonomics of korg Kronos.
I presented this program on the forum of Korg and I was welcomed more than coldly ...
They claim that access to the synthesizer via the web is dangerous and that it could infect the device !!
Has there ever been this kind of problem to your knowledge?
Well, the suggestion as you write it is total nonsense. It's not the 'web' that would infect the synthesiser.
But it may be possible that someone, using the web, might do so, with a piece of software - to do ??
Not sure if it would be practical, even if it was technically possible.
And I've no idea at all if there would be any purpose, or value, to doing so? The people who do this sort of thing have some sort of purpose, what 'benefit' could be obtained from getting your virus into a synthesiser?
The Kronos system has an OS that is Linux based, and Linux is supposed to be less vulnerable to viruses. In any case, a virus would need to be specially written/constructed to work on a Kronos system, and this would be a significant effort. And the BIG question remains - WHY?
Geoff
Hi Geoff, Thank you, I totally agree.
But then to go further, considering the setting on line of a tool such as this one:
https://kronosflyby.myweb2be.com/
In this tool I use the Web MIDI API: https: //www.w3.org/TR/webmidi/ via javascript
Does this sound completely dangerous or just careless?
And to finish such an application in Desktop mode would it be less dangerous?
Patrice.

Hi Servando,
Thank you so much for the reply
But 2 last questions please :
Do not you think that the vast majority of people who work in home-studio do it on a pc connected to the internet, with overcrowded daw connected to the internet? So they take this risk too?
And finally, if I make a desktop application that is not connected to the internet, although the pc is still, this represents an acceptable risk in your opinion?
Thanks in advance 🙂
Patrice.
