Hello all,

I am currently using CME WIDI MASTER midi bluetooth dongles on most of my live gear with no issues (the devices are powered via the midi output with no need for external power). I I have a StudioLogic MP-113 footpedal board which does not power the dongles.

Does anyone know of a device or have a schematic for a power injector to provide the needed voltage? I have not been able to locate a schematic for the MP-113 to see if it may be a pin 2 grounding issue. Does anyone have experience with mods for midi gear to address this?

Thanks in advance!

The website for the WIDI Master has this info:

No external power
Enjoy the fully standalone wireless solution
Supports both 5V and 3.3V via MIDI OUT DIN

This *might* help, at least in figuring out what you may need to do?

It wouldn't hurt to contact the manufacturer and ask if they have any suggestions/fix as well.

Here's an image of the PCB from the MP-113. Not a schematic, but it has pretty green pieces 😉

To get a MIDI output that can properly provide power, get (or build) a MIDI Thru box with its own power supply (some want to be powered from their input instead).

MIDI Solutions makes the Power Adapter for exactly this situation. (Their FAQs confirm that the MP-113 does not provide power to other devices.)
