I have an (old) Roland Boss Dr. Synth DS-330, an (old) Roland D-20 keyboard, and an (old) Roland PD-5 pedal board, connected by MIDI 5-pin. For years they've worked fine with the Dr. Synth sending to both the keyboard and the pedal board (which I use as bass) -- until someone else moved them. Don't know if someone played with buttons or what. Although each component is working by itself, Dr. Synth isn't telling anyone anything! After over two weeks of trying to get things right, apparently I need help with settings. I'm extremely frustrated and if a gig comes up I'm . . . well, you know. I need to get things to "play nice" together again. HELP!
I'd suggest you need to double check the cables, and the connectors. Unplug the cables, re-plug. Swap the cables around, see if the problem moves.
Not sure that any switch settings may have made any difference?

Actually, the pedal board was sending MIDI notes to the Dr. Synth.
Perhaps you plugged in the wrong way. You should plug the MIDI output of the pedal board to the MIDI input of the Roland Boss Dr. Synth DS-330.
Well, duh . . . . Thanks, Permalink. The bass is now working! However, the Dr. Synth still isn't talking to the keyboard. Any more good ideas?
the Dr. Synth still isn't talking to the keyboard.
As a test, if you connect the pedal board to the keyboard, does the former talk to the latter?
Cheers
