Hi everyone,

I am looking for advice on optimizing MIDI performance during live shows. I have been using MIDI controllers and instruments for a while but I am running into issues with latency and reliability when performing live. What are some best practices or tips you would recommend to ensure smooth MIDI operation in a live setting.

Specifically I am interested in:

  1. Choosing the right MIDI equipment: Are there any brands or models known for their reliability in live performances.
  2. Configuration tips: How should I configure my setup to minimize latency and avoid signal dropouts.
  3. Troubleshooting: What common problems should I look out for and how can I resolve them quickly during a show.

Thanks in advance for your help

Best, 😀

Hi Nancy! For optimizing MIDI performance live, consider these tips:

  1. Equipment: Brands like Novation and Akai are reliable for live use.
  2. Configuration: Use a good MIDI interface and lower your DAW’s buffer size, but not too low to avoid dropouts.
  3. Troubleshooting: Always have spare cables and a backup controller.

Good luck with your performances! 😄"
