Hi everybody!

Karaoke Formats page https://www.mixagesoftware.com/en/midikit/help/HTML/karaoke_formats.html
mentions some Yamaha Chord Control Code SysEx (on the bottom of the page).
Is there any information/documentation about that Chord Control Code SysEx available?

Thanks a lot!

Hello,

This is nothing to do with standard midi. You need to do a search for Yamaha XF Format, you will find a detailed spec that way.

XF Format is an extension to standard midi that may be supported by some multi-media systems, such as Cubase or Steinberg. Not sure if it relates in any way to midi devices, may be regarding software only. And prob Yamaha ONLY.

As Geoff has said, the XF specification is a Yamaha extension to General MIDI.
The SysEx messages are used to create styles for modern Yamaha keyboards.
The various elements of meta data are built into various, old sequencing programs from Yamaha such as XGworks and SOL2.
These date from the lateish nineties to early 2000's.

An extremely fine gentleman by the name of Jørgen Sørensen has a web site with a lot of resources on it.
Amongst them are the XG and XF specifications which can be found here:

JoSoSoft Web Site specs

You'll find the data you need starting on page 19 of the XF spec.
