At NAMM 2026 I spoke with Chris Stone who I believe was on an Orchestra Articulations Working Group. At least I believe that's what the group was named.
Is there somewhere I'm missing on the forum or main TMA webpage that has a list of the current and past working groups? And possibly WGs being considered for the future for review or display of interest? Or maybe these are by invitation only?
Thank you
You are correct there was an Orchestral Articulation WG. It is no longer active as the specification has now been completed 🙂
Generally speaking, the Working Groups in the MIDI Association are attended by any corporate members. Is there a particular Standard or WG you are interested in?
Hi Andrew,
There is a lot of incorporation of MIDI jacks into pipe organs in the last 30 years (new and refurbishments) but most organists don't know what their purpose is and how it can expand the instrument's capability. The Global Organ Group owns most large players including Rodgers which until lately was owned for years by Roland who is already a corporate member of TMA.
Using MIDI 2.0 to bring simpler sound expansion module linkage to large organ consoles might be of interest to the organ community. It could also simplify installations by techs doing refurbishments.
I was wondering if anyone is currently investigating/polling level of interest.
Thank you
There closest there is, is the Drawbar Organ Profile (Not quite the same as a Pipe Organ).
To get a Profile going we need companies that are specialist in this are to join and form a Working Group 🙂
Got it! Thank you for the status and explaining the process.
