I'd like to propose an extension to the 2.0 standard - where do I go to submit and discuss such proposals?

This forum is the best place to make suggestions 🙂
However, I recommend that if you have a product that you should become a Corporate member so that you work with other companies on your proposal.

I am working on an application that I have called Synth Tracker, It's a music tracker heavily based off of Impulse Tracker, but add in more features and simple yet powerful additive, subtractive chip based and organ samples that will play back a sample at different harmoncs. At the moment it only exists as a synthesiser in Java that plays back MIDI files.

I have been developing a midi bank schematic for the program that adds on a bunch of new program sounds that I feel like are lacking from the already existing Genral MIDI 2 spec and would love to have it be refined and useable to all. I have a draft of it on a document, but don't know where to share it for feedback.

Some notable additional program sounds it contains are, Toy piano (Program 8/9, bank 1), Melodica and Taxi horns (Program 22/23, banks 1 and 2), String bass (program 35/36, bank 1), 4 Acid rain bass sounds (Program 39/40, banks 4-7) Variation of pizzicato, tremolo, strings and slow strings for: violins, violas, celli, and double basses; more sine, square and pulse wave banks under program 80 and a melodic TR808 cowbell (program 113/114, bank 1) (the program section with 2 numbers are written as (zero based numbering/one based numbering) All banks are using 0 based numbering.

What should I do?

You can submit a proposal here and we can share with The MIDI Association Technical Standards Board.

I would submit it here, but I can't see a way to upload the PDF file.

When you are posting,  there is a place to attach a file.

Thanks, I don't know how I missed that. I was looking in the top area.

I fixed a few mistakes and altered my drum note map to include a finger snap.

Is there a MIDI profile being made for classical Pipe organs like there were profiles made for a Hammond organ or Leslie compatible device?

I have made a schematic draft for a Classical Pipe organ profile that could be used as a base for one. I think it would benefit the Church organ community if one were developed.

Edward - thanks for the pipe organ suggestion.
Just a couple of questions for my own benefit.

Are you working on a a Pipe Organ Product? Or is this just something you would like to see in the market?
Are there existing products that you see that could use this? (e.g. a softsynth or Hardware device)

I have a few questions in terms of the tables in your document - but I'll leave them for now

Thanks

I am working on a music tracker with synthesised samples, but the sample formats I am working on could be used for a Pipe Organ program when done.

I am an organist and I have a passion for the organ. I feel like if there were a universal pipe organ profile, it could be used in church organs, Electric pipe organs (such as Allen or Rodgers instruments) and even emulators such as Hauptwerk for a universal stop configuration format.

A recording on an organ emulator with this profile could then be played back on a real pipe organ using the same protocol in a way that the stops used are complementary stops to the ones used on the emulator recording. Many pipe organs already use MIDI, so some software upgrades could allow for those instruments to use this profile and whenever a stop is updated, an RPN or more holding the mapping to these stops could be transmitted and when one or more RPN are received by the organ, it can trigger the necessary stops to best match the RPN mapping.
