I needed to use MIDI files in my Casio keyboard, I found software to transfer it, and another one to modify the file, but nothing was great.. the issue is the finger notation is missing, and music sheet need to be cleaned from annoying notes, the bigger issue is there is no typical example on the web to such file were organized and divided so I could take it as an example in the next files, regardless the model complications.. and again, the file is on my keyboard, but not working the same way as I need, and I want to know how to make it better, another file transfered but didnt make any sound or notation... thank you for patience and help if you can present or guide

Sorry, but your query in it's present form leaves out so much vital information that it's almost impossible to answer.

Just to start, which Casio keyboard are you referring to? There are a number, and being able to check the technical spec of your's would be very helpful.

Why did you need to transfer the midi file to the keyboard? Why not just send the midi data in the normal way for the device to perform?

On the limited info you give, it's possible that the transfer, or the editing, has damaged the midi data. Or both have? What were you trying to edit?

You refer to 'annoying notes' - Why annoying? Where have these notes come from? Maybe they were in the midi file from the start, and should be there? Maybe something has corrupted them?

If music is recorded on a midi device, using midi, the resultant midi data can include a LOT of spurious data. Use of 'Quantise' function can tidy some of this data. The data is correct, and should not be seen as 'annoying', it just doesn't look right as a score.

A lot more information please.

My Casio keyboard is wk-225

And I can play Midi on the keyboard as output device, using "synthesia" for example or "midi editor", but then I need my eyes on the PC screen and my hand on mouse to follow the continous notes or pause them or reduce the tempo, not helpful method for practicing piano playing

step up lesson function in my keyboard enables me to practice built-in songs note by note, guides me to the next key and showing fingers hints, and finally evaluates my performance... I only need to store the song which have been modified in the right way, the way which I ask for

And its possible that MIDI file was damaged by me, but it still works on MIDI softwares, and if there any standards to make it work with keyboard as well, then I need to know it, and I need to see examples or templates to what I should edit alike

and the word "annoying" is a relative concept, does not mean something wrong with the media as much it means some notes I need to learn how to remove it from the track to maintain simplicity and prevent potential errors meanwhile

As a new member in keyboard playing and midi editing as well, I may do not find the exact words or do not want to complicate the process than it need... that,s differs from keeping important information

Thank you, and I hope you could help me, may be you can spot some lights on MIDI files and how it has been written.. I hope to find the answer and share it, so every one with some steps can practice music he love, or keep it for the one who need

Just for now, I'll try to keep comments within midi

I've looked up some info regarding the wk-225, and I note that you can send midi files to be played for training/instruction purposes, and I assume that's what you're trying to do.

However, I note that there is a 'converter' program (available from casio), and it would seem that a smf (standard midi file) MUST be converted before it is effective on the wk-225. It therefore seems that the converted file is no longer smf compatible. By how much, I don't know. I'd be interested in seeing a converted file. Even better would be the two files, i.e. the original smf and the converted file.

A long time ago I did get some Yamaha files, created for certain of the Yamaha organs, and these were NOT smf - however, on inspection, the files contained a LOT of correct midi data, and I was able to write a program to convert the Yamaha file into a smf.

You refer to the files you have NOT showing the 'fingering' info. This data would NOT be part of a normal smf. I'd guess that it could NOT be created by the 'converter', but MAYBE the converter creates space within the file for this data to be added? Or creates a way that certain text messages that ARE allowed within a smf could be used for the fingering info without messing up anything else?

Checking info on the web regarding the 'converter' software, information seems to suggest that the converter is compatible with the wk-110 keyboard, but NOT the wk-225. Do you have info that suggests that it SHOULD work with the 225, although you seem to be saying that the converted files are in fact NOT compatible?

Can you send me a converted file (that does NOT work) and maybe another file that DOES work. If you ZIP the two files together and attach the .ZIP file to your next message. Some sort of note as to which notes are the 'annoying' ones would be helpful as well!

I have here a small midi file, called DRUID.MID - I don't know where this file came from, there is no info within the file to say, but it's less than 2 minutes in length and contains two tracks of piano one for left hand and one for right. Fairly simple, but quite well played. Might this file be useful for testing?

Thank you very much.. if there a converting software from casio, I'd like to try it and put my hands on the changes, of course differences between models me be a block in front of me, but in the other hand, thet may make me closer to my target

Also, if you have a file that works well with you, I'd like to test it, a useful reference can be studied when it work, and maybe I can clone it after changes

OK.

Please try the attached DRUID.MID, enclosed inside DRUID.ZIP

The .ZIP file also had DRUID.TXT, this is a viewable text representation of the contents of the midi file, that you MAY (?) find interesting. Don't worry about it if not. This file can be edited, using a text editor (like NotePad) and then a midi file can be recreated if required.
