Hi,

Reading through the new MIDI 2.0 specs on Profiles. I think I understand the idea/mechanism/concept of profiles. In the specs I expected to find a list of predefined Profile(ID)s, but could not. Are there predefined Profiles (meanings) -a bit like GM/GM2- or... if not how would this work when both ends do not have the same notion of what which ProfileID means?

The MIDI Association has only released one Profile so far, the Default Controller Mapping Profile.
There are quite a few Profiles in development that will be released separately, this includes topics such as GM, Piano, Drawbar Organs, MPE etc.
Each of these will have common Profile Id's.

Hi, I came to this forum looking for this same piece of information. In the docs I found for the moment, Piano, GM and Drawbar Organs come up often. I'm trying to understand if these profiles will be defined only by the MIDI Association, or contributed publicly somehow. Where can we find the list of the current released profiles?

You should download the Common Rules for MIDI-CI Profiles.
