Is there a program that checks the syntax of a MIDI file and gives useful information when it finds an error? I wrote a program that creates MIDI files, but several MIDI applications just tell me that my file is corrupt or that some pointer overran a buffer. Noteworthy Composer 2 will accept my files and will export apparently correct versions of them. But it doesn't tell me what surgery it performed to do that. I've tried a couple of online MIDI file analyzers, but I haven't found one that gives useful information.

Hello,

There are any number of programs that may do part of what you want, but how about you attach your problem file to a posting here and I, and/or others, will check it and report back.

The error you refer to may just be something like a text item is too long.
