Just a quick post to publish this link to the VMPK Wiki documenting how to use a local Network to transmit MIDI events between VMPK programs running on different computers.
Why do you want to do that? Perhaps because you want to use your Windows laptops or tablets as MIDI Controllers (or your Android phone), but you prefer the software synthesizers in your Linux or macOS desktop computer. This program uses ipMIDI (UDP Multicast) instead of RTP-MIDI (the Apple network MIDI protocol) and does not require sessions, subscriptions, etc. It is not compatible with RTP-MIDI, but there are a few other implementations that can work together.
VMPK is free software distributed under the GPLv3 license. Thanks for your time.
