Hi, I have an old Roland D-20 & XV88 keyboard. I was wondering if anyone here might have the libraries for the different patches and presets, so I can use in my Daws.

I’ve tried to edit a file, but have consistently failed to get it up and running.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you for your time and consideration.

Hello,

I can find details regarding the tones/voices etc for both the devices you mention, but I suspect that you need to specify which DAW you are trying to use, as each system may need the voice (etc) details to be presented in a different format so it can be imported.

Maybe the DAW you use has a suitable file, but this file contains detail for other keyboards, and NOT the D-20 or the XV88? If this is the case, can you attach the file so I cab see the structure, and consider if detail for the D-20 and/or XV88 can be added?

Hi Geoff,

Sorry for the delayed response with this info. I got two files that can be opened, in a Mac, with the textedit.app.

I've been told I need both so the DAW will read the info and show what the KB has.

Hello Alejandro,

You've sent me two files. The other two files from the _MACOSX are a sort of linking file that MAC system needs to complete access to the main file, I understand they are not relevant to your problem.

The two files are roland.middev and XV-88.midnam. The first seems to be a listing of all Roland devices, with some general info about each device. There should be a small section in there with data about the XV-88. The other file, XV-88.midnam, seems to contain the full details for the XV-88, and should contain details of ALL the patches you might use.

So, this data relates mainly to one only of the instruments you were asking about. So data may be there for the XV-88 but NOT the D-20. Your original post suggests that BOTH keyboards were not working correctly, but given the files you send I would have thought that maybe the XV-88 will work, but NOT the D-20.

Could you confirm what is happening, and is there any difference regarding the operation of the two keyboards.

Also, these files may relate to ONE of the DAW systems, but I don't know if they might relate to both DAWs if they are from different makers?

Yes, I've looked in both files again.

The rolamd.middev (devices) contains overall details for both keyboards, the D-20 and the XV-88.

The .midnam file is there for the XV-88, so I would think that things should work for the XV-88.

Is there a D-20.midnam file as well as an XV-88.midnam file? If the D-20.midnam is missing, then this may be the problem, and this could be fixed by creating such a file with a similar structure to XV-88 but relevant details for the D-20? Or try to find sucy a file ready made?
