Which midi software
I am learning some violin, beginner, and would like to use my computer and MIDI to play some music to listen to and play along with. The first piece would be something like “row row your boat.” I just need to enter simple music and be able to enable and disable individual instruments.
I downloaded Cakewalk but cannot figure out how to use the staff and enter notes. I am computer savy, but this guy is beyond my knowledge. So far anyway.
Have you any recommendations as to
A) the best MIDI or DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to use.
B) Where to find a beginners guide to using Cakewalk.
This computer is Windows 11 with a Soundblaster board.
Thank you for you time.

Cakewalk has a very steep learning curve. It and most other daws are probably overkill for what you want to do. You may want to have a look at MuseScore, as it will most closely replicate the sheet music experience for you.

You can watch many video tutorials and you can read the introduction in the online documentation.
These will give you an idea of whether this software is suitable for your needs.
