Hello,
I've got a question that has been bugging me for years and I've never really had a good reply to defining a helpful methodology. If someone here can help, I'd be very grateful.
I have bought a blutooth midi controller to control Cubasis and VST's. The controller has a bank of 8 endless encoders and 16 pads.
What is common practise when mapping/ midi learning controllers, eg for VST's? Should I make the encoders control standard synth parameters like LFO, VCA, Resonance, , A,D,S,R, etc? Or is it better to midi learn the encoders to each VST? If the latter, most VST's have more than 8 buttons to map - how do I best map for, eg, 18 parameters using the same set of 8 encoders? Link a pad to somehow set up the bank of encoders with a new set of CC values? Set up a Pad press to change the device to a new midi channel , then there is a new bank of rotary encoders free to use, if the DAW is set to omni input?
What about assigning an encoder to scrub through synth patches/presets? Is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance for any help.
