Hi there. I'm trying to understand how MSB and LSB values are combined to produce more precision?

Does the MSB value reflect the full range (say 0-127) with the LSB acting as a decimal or fraction of each of those steps? For example,  would MSB 73 and LSB 64 equate to 73.5 in decimal?

The MSB is multiplied by 128 and the LSB is added to the product. In other words:
14-bit value = MSB * 128 + LSB

Also note that some synths may completely ignore the LSB value depending on what it is for.  Some only support "course" MSB versions of commands and ignore the "fine tuning" LSB portion.
