Hi,
My name is Joël and I work with computer music for 20 years. I started with Gtk+-2.0 for UI as it was released around 2002 and did my first programming experience with ANSI C99. Most coding was done on an intel based notebook running debian unstable.
Since hacking is a time expensive task, I enjoy creating music by importing SMF to my sequencer software.

A future goal would be to make more music and less programming.
So can you recommend any websites for SMF download?

Looking for anything in particular? Your easiest route is to do a simple web search for midi, and lots of sites will come up. Though quality will definitely vary.
Some specific ones I have bookmarked in the past while working on my editor:

A few of my links to larger collections have expired since bookmarking them, but there are also some incredibly large (by file count) torrents of archived midi files floating around the ol' internet. archive.org is also a good place to find midi files, since many older midi sites no longer exist.

Not off the top of my head, no. Some files in those collections may be, but I have no knowledge of which.
Perhaps someone else will chime in with some examples.
