I program my songs using a roland mc-50 into a roland sc8850. I would like to incease only the snare drum volume (note 38 and 40) by sysex. in certain files. I select either Standard 1 or Standard 2 drum kits. I have used the NRPN 99/98 (26) cc6 - 127 but I'd like the snare to be louder without dropping the overall volume of the file.. Any help would be well appreciated. Joe

Have a look at the section "Drum setup parameters" on page 240 of your manual.
The address you want to write to is "41 m2 rr" where m is the drum map and rr is the note number.

Struggling with this Eddie. I understand Hex decimal ok and calculating the checksum, but getting confused with the choice of Map1 or Map2. Can u give me an example of increasing note 40 to a level of 127 in the STANDARD 2 Drum kit please. Joe.

Sure. The attached MIDI file will play the same note at the same velocity, but altering its volume with SysEx messages.
(I had to zip the MIDI file to get the forum software to accept it.)

Joe,

Just in case it might help a little, I've done a 'decode' of Eddie's .mid file to .txt, so it's rather more readable for reference.

ZIP of .TXT attached.
