Hello
I have a Kawai digital piano with midi in and out.
I want to create a midi file so that I can import it into software called MIDICULOUS.
To do what I want to do I need a midi file.
What software do I need that will allow me to play my keyboard and save what I've played as a midi file so that I can import it into MIDICULOUS?
Regards,
Mike
Thanks Eddie. I'm new to this. Do you know of a reasonably priced brand of digital audio workstation that would do?
Hello Mike,
If you want to keep things VERY simple, and FREE, there's a package called Red Dot Forever, which is small and simple. I've just downloaded it and installed in about 3 minutes.
May be TOO simple?
It is designed to let you record from your keyboard, listen to the result, and save the result when you're happy with it as a midi file. And THAT is IT. No editing, no anything. I assume you can record one channel ONLY, but I assume it'll record chords.
The (brief) notes make some suggestions regarding other software to use in conjunction.
Beyond that, I'd suggest that you need just a sequencer for now. Not a DAW, which may be too complicated. Depends on what you want to record (musically), and how much you might want to edit.

Thanks Geoff. Ill try Red Dot Forever. Starting simple sounds good to me.
