Can one of you fine lads or lasses test out some snare drum variations on an actual MIDI keyboard?

I am trying to find out if it's possible to extend the amount of time the snare sounds, via reverb or changes to attack, sustain, etc. I'm finding difficult to quickly/easily mess around with settings in the software I have.

I've tried applying portamento to multiple rapid snares in a row, but I don't believe it has any effect because they are all the same "note". I also tried fiddling with CC 64 Damper Pedal on/off, CC 74 Sound Controller 4 (Attack) with mixed results, none of them good :p

By Jove, I think I've got it!

I used a combination of super fast snares with increasing values of CC 74. I need to mess around with it a bit more, but I am liking the way it is coming out.

The trickier bit will be inserting it in to the tracks that I need it to be in (from converting SNES SPC music to MIDI with spc2midi).
