Ben is also Accessible Gaming Officer at the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Sightless Kombat wearing a black cap and an RNIB Design for every gamer t-shirt stands in front of a blue background with the text SightlessKombat and gaming icons above their head.

This session will feature footage from games that have innovated in the accessibility space over the past few years, highlighting how audio can be used to enable access for players with no vision whatsoever.

Ben will cover:

  • His career and elements of his work.
  • How audio can support with menu and UI narration, audio description, navigation cues, vehicle-based gameplay, and combat, featuring example gameplay footage.
  • Future hopes and RNIB’s Design for Every Gamer initiative, including the RNIB Best Practice in Accessible Gaming DevKit.

We also found some very good reference material about accessible gaming at this website- https://caniplaythat.com/.

The image displays the text “CAN I PLAY THAT? A DAGERSYSTEM INITIATIVE” over a blurred website background, with gaming icons and a game controller graphic above and below the text.
