Just this week, we updated the schedule for the 2025 MIDI Innovation Awards to give more time to companies and individuals to prepare for this year’s competition.
The 2025 MIDI Innovation Awards are now open, inviting creators worldwide to showcase their groundbreaking MIDI-based innovations. Established in 2021, this annual event is a collaboration between The MIDI Association, Music Hackspace, and NAMM, aiming to spotlight advancements in MIDI 1.0 and 2.0 technologies that enhance musical creativity.
Award Categories
Participants can submit entries in the following categories:
- Commercial Hardware Products
- Commercial Software Products
- Prototypes and Non-Commercial Hardware Products
- Prototypes and Non-Commercial Software Products
- Artistic/Visual Projects or Installations
- Best MIDI 2.0 Product (a new category for 2025)

- March 18, 2025: Registrations open
- July 8, 2025: Registrations close
- July 14, 2025: Public voting begins
- August 4, 2025: Voting ends; jury deliberation starts
- August 8, 2025: Finalists announced
- September 20, 2025: Winners revealed during a live online show
Prizes and Opportunities
Winners will have the chance to present their innovations at major international events, including The NAMM Show and Music China. They will also receive support from The MIDI Association to develop MIDI 2.0 prototypes. Additionally, media partner Sound On Sound will provide press coverage and contribute prizes for the competition.
