Hi everyone,
I am working on a new music project and need some guidance on MIDI specifications. I am a bit new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Specifically I am trying to understand the difference between MIDI 1.0 and MIDI 2.0. What are the main improvements or changes in MIDI 2.0. Also are there specific tools or software I should use to take full advantage of these new features.
If anyone could provide some insights or point me towards useful resources that would be fantastic.
I also searched on this site <a href=" removed link " target="_blank" rel="noopener"> removed link <a href=" removed link " target="_blank" rel="noopener">sap-sac but I could not found anything helpful.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best,
[Nancy]
MIDI 2.0 improves on MIDI 1.0 with:
- Higher Resolution: 32-bit precision.
- Enhanced Expressiveness: Better control over dynamics.
- Backward Compatibility: Works with older hardware.
- Profiles and Property Exchange: Easier device setup.
- Improved Timing: Better synchronization.
Use MIDI 2.0-compatible DAWs and devices. Check MIDI.org for details.
