I bought a Yamaha YPT-210 Electronic Keyboard a few months ago. I want to try and use the sounds on it by connecting my keyboard controller to it. But I have very limited control to the portables sounds. There appear s to be no midi setting on the portable, but apparently can be used with a sequencer. Any ideas?

It would have been helpful if you'd given some indication as to what did work, and what did not.
I've checked the manual on-line for the YTP, and I note that the midi implementation is slightly limited, so some things that do not work might be due to that. The controller might support more commands, for example.
If something does not work, check the two implementation charts.
One thing, I see that the YPT does NOT support midi note OFF. This could cause problems if your controller sends such info, as it will be disregarded, causing hanging notes. The YPT will need to use note ON but with zero velocity. Maybe something can be set on the controller to effect this?

Hey Geoff, in the Yamaha PSR-E213/YPT-210 MIDI Implementation Chart, the "Note Off X" is in the "Velocity" section. This just means it doesn't make use of the Note Off velocity value.
Here's the manual for anyone who wants to look at it:PSR-E213 YPT-210 Owner's Manual (PDF).
Uuurgh - thanks for the correction.
I was looking at the chart sideways on, and having to scroll up/down to read across the line! I should have been more careful!
