Hi everybody!

I am playing with a MIDI dataset from https://www.reddit.com/r/WeAreTheMusicMakers/comments/3ajwe4/the_largest_midi_collection_on_the_internet/
There are quite a bunch of files that have a following Channel Prefix meta message: 0xFF 0x20 0x01 0x10

As I understood from the specs, the last byte (the channel number) must be from 0x00 to 0x0F.
Is the value 0x10 valid, and if it is, what does it mean?

Windows Media Player does not see any problems with those files...

Your help will be appreciated!

The value 0x10 indeed is not valid.

Maybe somebody thought that this could be used to indicate that the following events are not associated with any specific channel.
