I have no idea if these NRPN work with my SC-7 i tried send GS RESET and then CC 99 (1),CC 98(99 ),CC 6(slidebarval 14-124) to change the attack time but can't hear any difference.
As soon i send GS RESET the machine sets piano 1 sound, whichi is normal i guess is normal but can one really set the TVF & TVA attack for piano, i have no idea..

To bad can't here any difference moving any of the slidebars, so either i do not understand howto implement NRPN or it simply not supported for SC-7.

Update: Tested the slidebars using midiLoopback and Roland VA.
Seems they all work, so maybe it is time to start use my Roland RA-95 instead of the SC-7.

I hope it support the messages, can't find any Cakewalk/Sonar instrument bank for it though.

98 not recognized butt 99???

In a previous post, Eddie Lotter referred Jonas to the Roland SC-7 MIDI Implementation Chart for information about what MIDI messages the SC-7 supports. Here is a PDF of the Roland SC-7 manual from a Roland address. The MIDI Implementation Chart is at the end on PDF page 43.

As you may know, in a MIDI Implementation Chart X means no, and O means yes. There's always a legend at the bottom to remind you what these symbols mean.

Controller 98 and 99 are used to specify a Non-Registered Parameter Number (NRPN) and are always used together: controller 98 is the least significant byte (LSB), controller 99 is the most significant byte (MSB).

When reading a MIDI Implementation Chart, be sure to look at the Remarks column or look for footnote symbols for additional comments.

In the Roland SC-7 MIDI Implementation Chart, the row for "Control Change 98, 99" and column for "Recognized" contains "X/O", but the Remarks column for that row has a footnote symbol that refers to a note at the bottom of the chart that explains "NRPN can be enabled or disabled by System Exclusive Message. Default is always disabled."

In the MIDI Implementation section of the Roland SC-7 manual, the NRPN messages the SC-7 understands are explained on PDF pages 34 and 35 (printed pages 32 and 33). It explains once the proper System Exclusive message has been used to enable the NRPN messages, the NRPN messages the SC-7 understands are for setting various pitch and sound parameters for individual drum key notes. An example of sending the enabling System Exclusive message and then an NRPN message in on PDF page 35 (printed page 33).

(The System Exclusive message is also mentioned in the System Exclusive section on PDF page 38 (printed page 36) as "RX. NRPN", but you have to read other information in that section about Roland's System Exclusive format (Data Set 1 and Checksums) to learn how to construct the entire System Exclusive message.)

The manual says that after power on the NRPN messages are disabled and must be enabled with a specific System Exclusive message. (The GS Reset message won't enable the NRPN messages.) The System Exclusive message to enable the NRPN messages is shown in the example on PDF page 35 (printed page 33): F0 41 10 56 12 01 00 01 01 7D F7.

It says the NRPN messages only affect drum key sounds, so you won't hear anything change with the piano sound.

Be aware that Non-Registered Parameter numbers are defined by the manufacturer and may be device specific. The Roland SC-7 manual doesn't list any NRPN for MSB decimal 1 LSB decimal 99 (MSB hex 01 LSB hex 63) (controller decimal 99 value decimal 1, controller decimal 98 value decimal 99).

It sounds like TVA level is a concept similar to attack time, but I don't know the details. The NRPN to change the TVA level of drum key hex XX is MSB hex 1A LSB hex XX (controller decimal 99 value decimal 26, controller decimal 98 with value being the decimal drum key number).

Thanks for your interest, but i was thinking that basicly all SoundCanvas had same festures they don't.
I have implemented all the NRPN i posted about above, they work good with SoundCanvas VA "and probably SC-55, SC-88"

And i hope they will work with my Roland RA-95.

Thanks again for interest problem resolved.
But problem reading older midi manuals remain..........
