Hello everyone, im New here and I have a question: I've been looking for a program to manage MIDI programs (PC&CC messages) for a while. I use MIDI to control my guitar setup.
The software should be able to manage MIDI presets (eg. Clean, Overdrive, Solo etc. ...) and also send PC and CC messages to these sounds.
Another function should be: The presets in an order to arrange and then in this to switch through, quasi as a song. For example: Song 1: Clean, Drive, Solo ...
These songs should then best still in a setlist in a sequence wegernernden can.
The control of the program (Song+/- & Step +/-) should also be done via midi.
I myself own the Nectar Pacer MIDI pedal.
Thank you for your help! ??
Hello Hannes,
I used to be a programmer, many years ago, but now I'm supposed to be retired! If you want anything doing, and I can 'help' in any way, you need to do a lot of the 'leg work'!
You are asking about a program - to run on what. I think I understand that you are thinking of maintaining a database of individual commands where you can select a set and load the set and attach them to a key on a pedal, to activate as and when required. You mention Nectar Pacer, I'm not familiar with that, so I'd need you to tell me what options are available on that, such as how many different 'programs can be loaded at once, and how many bytes of data each can be (or how many bytes overall are allowed). The bytes you need to send might change depending on the destination device, for example PC data on different devices might be different?
Not sure if you can select a 'song' via midi, but maybe the overall progam could do this, and then send the data for the song via midi to the playing device?
These are just some initial thoughts.
Geoff
Hello Geoff, thank you very much for your response!
I'm looking for an windows xx program: Actually, I'm looking for exactly what is described here ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf2TfY_Y_SA ).
The problem is, this software is no longer available (I was already in contact with the developer). So, I am looking for an alternative ...
I don't really know anything about programming and am grateful for any help! Don't know where to start or ...
Your thoughts are almost exactly what I’m looking for... The program should consist of four different levels:
Level 1: Sounds - here is the MIDI PC number linked to the sound... e.g.: Sound "CLEAN" - MIDI PC 01 / MIDI CHANNEL 1).
- 2: Songs - here are all of the Songs stored... e.g.: Song 1 - Clean, Drive, Clean, Drive, Solo, Drive...
- 3: Setlist - here are all Songs listed for the evening... e.g.: "Set Berlin 07-2023" Song 1, Song2 ....
- 4: Live mode: - this is a little bit tricky to explain... If the Set e.g.: "Berlin..." is active, there should only be 4 commands necessary, to control the whole software (CC-Midi commands).
Command 1: "Next Sound within a song" ---- Command 2: "previous Sound within a song" ---- Command 3: "next Song" ---- Command 4: "previous song"
These CC Commands should come from the Nectar Pacer Pedal (I already know how to program it, there is also an online Editor for the Pedal ( https://studiocode.dev/pacer-editor/#/preset ).
So, I hope you can help me or give me some Input where to start or if there is any reasonable chance to manage this project.
kind regards and thank u!
Hannes
Hello Hannes,
Thank you for your comments.
I'll need to watch the YouTube video in detail, although I know very little German. May still be able to make sense of it.
WHY is the existing program 'no longer available'? It's a bit daft to have to start at square one and re-do the whole thing when a prog already exists that does the job, and WORKS. Depending on what it's written in, I might be able to do something with the existing code. Please, contact the original writer again, and ask it he's prepared to release the code to you (to pass to me). I would be perfectly happy to leave main credit to him, exact wording to be agreed with him. I may need to make changes to suit you, but these should not affect the substance of HIS program.
I mainly use Windows XP, but I do have W-7 and W-10 machines here.
As things will get fairly technical, this should be takes off the forum, please contact me via
