Can we use iOS (iPad, iPhone) as a keyboard character input for other iOS apps?

Here's where i am coming from.
I'm currently using my iPad for church music (KORG Module, iGrand Piano). My iPad sits at my e-keyboard's music rest. During bible verse reading, i usually open a Bible app on the same iPad. I was thinking if my e-keyboard can be used as a keyboard controller to my Bible app, so i can input verses via my keyboard (of course preferably assignable.) Is this possible?
