Hi everyone! I want someone to help me with a piece of advice. I am a happy owner of Yamaha PSR-E433 (started learning piano almost 1 year ago), then I understood that I do not use even half of what my keyboard can do and recently decided to use it as a MIDI device with sequencers (tried FL Studio and Ableton). And it seems like I need to replace this one with something that has pads on its panel. Or probably I should buy a solid pad controller (something from Akai APC product line). I thought of buying Alesis like this one https://primesound.org/best-61-key-midi-controller/#product1 because reviews were good, but then thought that's 8 pads is not enough. And finally, the question is "What should I do?". What should I buy? If there are any advanced beatmakers or composers, please, help me out!

Erica, welcome to the forums.

8 pads are definitely enough.

The best advice I can give you is for you to go into a music store that has MIDI devices on display. Try out the various form factors and choose those that do what you want.

Thanks but I already ordered the one with 8 pads 🙂 A friend told me the 8 pads should be enough, too, on my level

Hi
"I know it's a little late to answer this question but maybe useful to other readers"
You can tell exactly what features you are not using
If you are looking at the start and stop buttons and other features of a keyboard midi, I have to say that you can find all the shortcuts you need in your computer keyboard.
If you want to buy something to play the drum you can use the apps that are installed on the tablet
I don't think you need to buy something
