Hello, I am trying to help a church replace the midi keyboard to control their change ringing bells system ( not sure the exact terminology). Anyway, the bell controller has a single midi in, and the old keyboard has a single midi out. The old keyboard is fixed velocity. They have a new novation keyboard that has usb connection. Due to the keyboard only connecting via usb, I set up a raspberry pi as a midi host with a usb midi interface and the new keyboard connected to it. When controlling the bells with the novation, it is hit or miss if the bells will play. I am thinking this is because the novation has velocity sensitive keys, and the bell controller does not like the signal? Just wondering if you guys agree and can guide me in what my next steps should be.
While troubleshooting I was able to plug the usb interface into my laptop, and using logic was able to play every note every time, this was done by clicking an on screen keyboard with a fixed velocity.
Thanks for your help
It should be possible to change the velocity with something like midish.
Thanks! I will try that out. By the way, Is there any free DAW software for Linux that can do this stuff graphically?
