I am thinking about adding Focusrite Rednet to my setup - and I know there are ways to implement midi over Ethernet - but I would love to simplify the setup as much as possible.

We discussed it very briefly in a recent Technical Standards Board meeting.

Can you describe how MIDI over Dante might simply your setup?

Honestly - hoping for fewer cable runs - switches - and connections to computers. RTP midi over ethernet could work - but would likely require a separate network. It just seems strange that I couldn't find any information about using midi over Dante. Plenty of info about video and audio. I just assumed early on that it would be simple to add. I wanted to add a Piano with midi implementation to record midi data from the piano - allowing for daw editing and recording piano audio from existing midi data.

Not a killer - I could use other solutions for midi/usb over ethernet. This is years away - haven't finished the studio construction. I'm just doing the early research.

This would be highly useful for single connection setup that could be transmitted to devices that are subscribed to it.
For instance I could totally see rack devices being controllable through the program controls and control codes, like with a midi foot controller
A great example would be something like the Avid Eleven Rack,(granted it would have to be redesigned to be dante enabled) which is already designed to work on stage or in studio using midi foot controllers. But a simple Midi to Dante Connector would work too, just like the one's Audinate offers AVIO 2 ch. XLR to Dante interfaces.
It would be excellent if all I had to do was connect them both to my network and subscribe them to each other.
Let's say I have the rack unit in a closet and the midi foot control board in the control room I'd be able to run both

In Pro Tools you can set the program control codes to change through the out of you midi connection to the in of the device.
It would be great to be able to leverage this ability through Dante and possibly the potential use of multi-cast ability to transmit signal changes between midi devices.

After all, the primary thing Dante is interfacing is the data over Ethernet through the subscriptions to the in/out of the device.
It should in theory eliminate the getting midi cables backwards as well.

Hope my thoughts here are cohesive enough for someone to get what I'm saying.
