Hey everyone,
I’m pretty new to the world of MIDI and would like to build a small live setup that allows me to do the following:

  • Switch scenes in the MainStage patch list (one button for next, one button for previous scene)
  • Mute multiple channels in MainStage simultaneously (one button)
  • Control volume/fade of effects with two expression/volume pedals
  • Use one button as a stompbox to trigger a tambourine sample

So, I need:

  • 4 MIDI footswitches (preferably with a comfortable large surface like Roland or Boss)
  • 2 MIDI expression pedals

The Roland FC-300 could handle all of this, but it’s too big for me, and I don’t need many of its features.

I’ve done some research and came up with the following setup:

  • 3x TRS to Dual-Mono cables
  • 2x Boss FS-6
  • 2x Boss EV-30
  • 1x Meris MIDI I/O Interface (It should have 4 TRS inputs, meaning it can convert a total of 8 signals into MIDI, correct?)

Questions/Concerns:

  1. With this setup, I should be able to meet all my requirements as efficiently as possible in terms of space, right? Or am I overlooking something?
  2. I understand correctly that the Meris MIDI I/O has four stereo inputs for a total of eight individual signals, which it then converts into MIDI signals that I can send via USB to my laptop, allowing me to map everything in MainStage as needed, right?
  3. If anyone has a better/more efficient solution for my requirements, I’d be super grateful!

Huge thanks in advance!!! ❤️
