Can you control the Roland Go Keys with a sequencer (eg Arturia Keystep)? It lacks the traditional midi port.

Hi. I recently purchased a Roland Go Keys 61 and noted that it did not have the normal midi port on the back (just a micro usb port). I want to use a sequencer to control the keyboard but the manual is very vague about midi and seems to refer only to bluetooth devices. I want to use an Arturia Keystep to control it along with it's sequencer. Is this possible with the Roland Go Keys 61?

Hello,

Some months ago, there was another discussion about the Go keys, and MIDI. Maybe you should look for that.

Update. Found this: https://www.midi.org/forum/1195-help-with-missing-midi-implementation-on-new-roland-go-keys-61k

The OP there had various discussions with Roland in an effort to get details about the Go Keys MIDI implementation, and was not getting very far. I don't know if he ever found anything, or rather, if Roland ever got this properly documented.

Having a hardware connection is one thing, and it appears that a MIDI connection IS possible. This is not a lot of use though if you don't know what midi commands are available/supported, how to select voices, how to do any SYSEX, etc. This being 'very vague' is not a lot of help!

GoKeys has midi over Bluetooth capabilities built in. iPad is recommended or iOS to connect is what I did. App like midiflow, you will be able to connect or see the GoKeys Bluetooth device. In order to connect to another device, if it has midi ports or usb you need to use hardware such as Yamaha md or ud-bt01 to bridge or connect the two. Or connect the Apple camera kit3 to your device (if capable).
I have several videos on using Midi over Bluetooth with other devices. I briefly had a Roland GoKeys briefly too which I connected to Roland Bk-7m as mentioned.
Check out my videos on how I use midi over Bluetooth without my hardware.
