Jamstik Studio MIDI Guitar

The Jamstik Studio MIDI guitar was built for producers, guitarists, and songwriters alike. With a full 25.5″ scale length fretboard paired with a compact body size, it’s a formidable travel-size guitar coming in at about 3/4 the size of a standard electric. Yet, it has all of the features of your standard electric, and of course, it plays like one—with two humbuckers featuring a coil tap switch, three-way switch, and standard 1/4” out.

The true groundbreaking features come on the MIDI side. We designed our guitar as an integrated, “from-the-ground-up” MIDI guitar solution, so the MIDI pickup is placed and calibrated similarly for each unit, greatly aiding in the consistency of signal. Meanwhile, our signal processing is done onboard the guitar with some very powerful processors—driven by proprietary algorithms written for accuracy, speed, and broad coverage of the variety of guitar playing techniques desired, including polyphonic bends, tapping, hammer-ons, pull-offs, muting, palm muting, etc.

In tandem, our team built the brand new Jamstik Creator software from scratch to harness the MPE-enhanced performance capabilities and dynamic nuances of the Studio MIDI Guitar. The software is both a utility application for customizing the Jamstik’s settings (like string sensitivity, MIDI mode, tuning, etc.) and a full hybrid synthesizer with over 150 MPE presets. Jamstik Creator is available as a standalone application for Mac & PC, and as a VST3 or AUv3 plugin to use within a DAW.

The Studio MIDI Guitar is the first MPE-capable guitar MIDI controller, providing the most natural and accurate analog to digital translation. To quote Sound on Sound, “It makes for a very natural ‘guitaristic’ playing experience, as instinctive things like left‑hand lift‑off damping and right‑hand palm muting have a useful effect on the output.” Unlike MPE keyboards that utilize “aftertouch” information, the Jamstik Studio measures the amplitude of the string, tracking the envelopes of the notes—then maps that data as expression (MIDI CC11). MPE also allows for each string of the guitar to be assigned to independent MIDI channels, giving each string its own line of communication with your DAW.
