Setlist Manager (Ver.3)

Elevator Pitch

Setlist Manager (Ver.3)

Setlist Manager is a macOS Application that augments AVID Pro Tools with advanced MIDI cue automation, originally developed for touring Productions.

Product Description

Setlist Manager (Ver.3)

Setlist Manager transforms static AVID Pro Tools memory locations into dynamic, recallable Setlists, giving artists and production teams a powerful way to control playback in large, complex Pro Tools sessions.
NEW PROTOTYPE – Setlist Manager 3 introduces a major innovation: MTC-driven cue automation.

How It’s Innovative

Setlist Manager works by importing static AVID Pro Tools marker information and transforms it into an editable running order of audio sections within a master Pro Tools Session.
NEW PROTOTYPE – For the updated macOS version 3, I thought hard about how to improve the required single MIDI message at the end of each locator section to drive the automatic jump to the next Song in the Setlist. Setlist Manager 3 introduces a major innovation: MTC-driven cue automation. Rather than relying on embedded MIDI messages within the session, the app intelligently parses Pro Tools memory locations, deciphers cue lengths, and uses incoming MIDI Time Code (MTC) to monitor timeline position in real time.
When the current timecode reaches the calculated end of a cue, Setlist Manager automatically sends a MIDI message to Pro Tools with instructions to jump to the next location, enabling hands-free playback control without modifying the session itself. This approach is robust, non-destructive, and ideal for fast-paced live environments where flexibility and precision are key.

Expansion Plans

After the release of Version 3, I hope to port this to iPad for use over networked MIDI, and exploring how the the MIDI 2.0 UMP could enhance the MTC synchronisation.

Commercialization

I hope to make Setlist Manager 3 available later this year.
