Elevator Pitch
Orbita Color Sequencer
Product Description
How It’s Innovative
Orbita reimagines music sequencing as a tangible, visual, and interactive experience. Instead of clicking on screens or navigating menus, users compose by physically placing magnets on a spinning disk—making rhythm visible and touchable.
Orbita is designed to be accessible, affordable, and sustainable. Using advanced 3D-printed production and a unique magnetic filament, each unit can be locally produced, customized, or even assembled as a DIY kit—ideal for schools, makerspaces, and creative communities.

Most Inspiring Use Cases
Playtronica has partnered with the National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan to develop an educational program that brings polyrhythms into the math class, making music and science more engaging through hands-on exploration. Orbita invites students to see, touch, and hear the connections between sound, math, and movement.
Expansion Plans
After the successful release of the first 100 Orbita units, we plan to expand the platform in several exciting directions. Hardware upgrades will include improved resolution for the black-and-white sensor and velocity sensitivity, as well as physical CV/Gate outputs for direct integration with modular synthesizers. On the software side, we aim to introduce custom scale and harmony generators along with expanded MIDI capabilities. In education, we’re developing ready-to-use STEAM and music lesson kits and will publish an open-source curriculum connecting music and math through Orbita. Artist collaborations will bring limited edition bodies with custom-designed parts by visual creators. For the DIY and maker community, we’ll launch an open-source hardware kit, host global build workshops and hackathons, and grow a community of users contributing new features and creative use cases.
Commercialization
Orbita launches in July 2025 with a retail price of €399. Following our early birds drop, it will be available through the Playtronica online store and selected distributors. For educational institutions, we offer a special discounted rate along with a sample lesson plan and dedicated support for future software and hardware updates. Our goal is to make Orbita widely accessible—to musicians, educators, and creatives alike—while growing a global community around tactile and visual music-making.
