Most Inspiring Use Cases

Calliope’s mission is to democratize musical creativity by facilitating the creative process of composing music. Our approach is to support 1) the high-quality controllable generation of musical ideas and 2) the guided evaluation of those ideas to move closer to help artists and lay users express unique pieces of musical work in MIDI.

Calliope is useful for quickly generate multi-track MIDI patterns of inspiration (generating from scratch), for overcoming writer’s block, or for getting alternative composition ideas for your piece.

Expansion Plans

We are planning to:
1) Improve the user interface/interaction to make it frictionless and intuitive to new users.
2) improve the performance of the generative music AI model with more user controls and faster processing speed.
3) extend further the music evaluation capabilities with improved visualization and comparison (ranking and filtering) of MIDI files to enable a full creative process loop where the user can generate hundreds of ideas and filter through them efficiently.

Commercialization

Currently, the system is available as a free online prototype. We do not yet have any plan for commercialization, but will be open to ideas along those lines i.e., subscription model (freemium for all users + a pricing structure for advanced features).

How does your entry connect with other MIDI devices or software:
Calliope is built with a MIDI streaming feature. This enables it to discover MIDI I/O on the device and the user can stream generated MIDI composition to their favorite DAW i.e., Ableton Live.
