The MNS Music Engine is a real-time generative music platform with deep MIDI integration. Currently written in JavaScript, it allows musicians and creators to experience web-based automated music making without the use of machine learning. With the MNS-ME users can control, perform, and shape continuously evolving music through any MIDI device—enabling interactive, non-repeating soundscapes for performance, education, installations, and creative exploration across digital and physical environments.

How It’s Innovative

The MNS Music Engine bridges algorithmic composition and hands-on performance in a way that feels transparent and alive. Unlike static sequencers or black-box AI tools, it makes generative music fully interactive and transparent. Musicians can shape evolving compositions in real time with any MIDI device—triggering, morphing, and modulating patterns as they play. Every musical decision is algorithmically generated but instantly responsive, making the engine feel more like a living instrument than a pre-programmed tool. Its deterministic randomness and seed-based architecture enable performances that are always unique, yet reproducible. By bridging algorithmic composition and hands-on performance, MNS-ME opens up new creative territory for music-making with MIDI.

Most Inspiring Use Cases

The MNS Music Engine powers experiences where music feels genuinely alive—continuously evolving, never looping or repeating, and always unfolding in real time, right where the listener is. Recent projects we have created with the MSN-ME include: Generative Piano Albums, Interactive audio-visual installations, and web-based art projects. The most inspiring example is createAlbum(“Piano II”); an album of generative piano compositions recently released on streaming platforms. This release highlights the engines ability to have a user steer the generator via MIDI control with real-time compositional output sent to digital piano’s via MIDI for recording.

Expansion Plans

Our expansion plans focus on bringing the MNS Music Engine to audio plugins and mobile devices, making generative and interactive music creation accessible anywhere. We are developing native apps for iOS and Android that offer the same deep MIDI integration, real-time control, and evolving music experience as our desktop and web versions. The integration of the MNS-ME into software applications will enable enhanced DAW music making, on-the-go composition, live performance, and educational activities, broadening the audience for generative music and inspiring creativity beyond traditional compositional techniques. In the future, we plan to expand into additional platforms, support new control surfaces, and encourage a growing community of users exploring generative music on their own terms.”

Commercialization

Our commercialization strategy is built on flexible licensing. We’ll offer the MNS Music Engine as a core technology for instrument makers, DAW developers, and creators of music apps—supporting integration into hardware, plugins, mobile apps, and web-based tools. Both B2B partnerships and direct-to-creator licenses will ensure broad accessibility, while supporting bespoke installations and educational use.
