We are pleased to announce that our partner MIDI organization in Japan (AMEI) have received an award for their achievements in MIDI.
This year, for the first time, the “Music Awards Japan” event was held on May 21 and 22. It is similar to the Grammy Awards in the United States.
The opening show “Rydeen Reboot” prominently features MIDI instruments and performances by Hatsune Miku, the Vocaloid MIDI driven diva and classical pianist and MIDI enthusiast Hayato Sumino.
On the 21st, awards were presented in various categories. Among them was the “Honorary Award in Music Technology,” which was awarded to MIDI.
AMEI’s representative, Seiji Abe-san who is the new president of AMEI, accepted the trophy (called Ruby) and gave a speech on the achievements of MIDI.
Abe-san is the Operating Officer of the Digital Musical Instruments Division in Yamaha Corporation of Japan and he is also the President of AMEI from May 16th, 2025.
