Kara MIDI Controller

Elevator Pitch

Kara MIDI Controller

Imagine having fast and easy access to notes, multiple MIDI channels, CC messages, and the ability to alter sounds through movement. What could you play?

Product Description

Kara MIDI Controller

Based on capacitive touch and motion sensors and a simplified pitboard, Kara combines features from guitars, pads, and keyboards into a coherent whole.

The unique mix of sensors and new methods of playing can unleash unprecedented musical performances.

How It’s Innovative

It looks cool.
– I took inspiration from leaves of the tulips, flames, flowing water, Ferrari…

It makes you look cool when playing it.
– Decided to emulate some of the aspects of guitar playing.

It makes you move.
– Added a gyroscope so you can affect the sound by moving it.

It makes selecting notes and chords easy.
– Ditched the messy guitar fretboard layout and designed a simpler one. Included barre chords.

It assists in the development of muscle memory.
– You select notes from a pitboard. The pitboard has a small fingertip-sized pit for each note making it easier to locate and memorize them.

It controls DAWs as fully and intuitively as possible.
– With a double tap on the pitboard, it changes mode and starts sending CC messages that can trigger loops and alter sounds.

Most Inspiring Use Cases

I enjoy triggering loops, playing on top of them and altering effect parameters with movement.

Expansion Plans

Some customization options will be offered. The core, tube-like component in the center will remain the same, but buyers can choose the ‘wings’ from a selection.

Additionally, I am already exploring new ideas and capabilities for version 2.

Kara will always be premium, high-end, the finest – the Ferrari of MIDI controllers.

Commercialization

There are various options.

The fastest route is to partner with an established instrument manufacturer. It can be in the form of licensing, for example.

It is also possible to establish a company and begin manufacturing ourselves.
