I have an Alesis quadra plus keyboard. It has 2 assignable pedal inputs both are set to control volume, but they both control the same MAIN OUTs. The keyboard is set to 'OMNI' mode. Does anybody know how to get it to pan between two patches layered by 1 or both pedals? Is there such a way to crossfade between 2 patches by vol pedal through MIDI? I want to layer piano and strings and be able to control the volume of each sound individually through MIDI processing- that way I could connect a CONTROL pedal with one cable instead of 10 cables to two volume pedals analog TRS style.

I'm not sure about any of the equipment you mention, but one way that might work is that if you assign the two parts each to their own midi channel, and make sure that the volume pedals are also assigned to to the two channels.
Otherwise, you would need to explore SYSEX code to act directly on the parameters of the specific sounds.
