Hello,
I am new to midi, my name is Kostas from Greece, I am 34 and I have a problem connecting my Behringer X12R to my Akai midimix.

Behringer X12R has midi input-output.
Akai midimix is USB.

I have bought (from ebay) a midi to usb cable without any luck.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2M-5-Pin-Din-USB-To-MIDI-Cable-Converter-Audio-Adapter-Cord-For-Keyboard-Synth/372702829448?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

I want the midimix to control the Behringer OR the software. I tried to open midimix software to assign addresses. Midimix is working as I can see it let's say in Virtual dj as controler.

Should I buy a more expensive cable/adapter?

Thank you in Advance

Definitely get a better adapter. Have a look at these reviews.

The thing is, if I get a better adapter, will it work or I will have an expensive useless adapter?

If you are connecting your X12R to your computer using the adapter you bought, and the device is not visible to software on your computer, this is usually the symptom of a poorly made adapter. The software on your computer must be able to see both MIDI devices before it can route MIDI signals from one to the other.
