Hello,

It might be a help if you attached a small example of the type of file you have. I suspect verious different systems use the .SNG filename, but the actual data in them could be quite different.

I assume you no longer have access to the original software. That system might have an option to 'export' as .SMF or .MID.

Initial investigation suggests that Voyetra SPG is DOS software. Also the indication is that it CAN export to a .MID file.

I have just downloaded a version of the Voyetra system, version 4 point something. I have a number of pure DOS computers here, incl the one I use for most of my midi bits, so installing and running the system would be no problem. I'd just need to confirm that the version I've got WIL load your .SNG, and WILL export to .MID. I'd expect that the default SAVE process would still be .SNG, but the export to .MID would be an option. Both the DOS type sequencer systems I have already normally save as their own format, but CAN save as midi as an alternatinve

Hello,

Yes, I'm still here, and still have my old DOS stuff, and the Voyetra system that I referred to is still available.

if THAT is what you need?

Not sure what you mean by the 'Digital Orc Plus', is that related?

There is a 'FlipSide' attachment, not sure if that's from 2 years ago, but I've downloaded that and 'll check that out.

I'll see what surfaces??

Thanks Geoff !
"Digital orc plus file" is what Voyetra turned into over the years. Flip side is the file I need converted to a .mid file.
You can listen to what we do at ohomusic.com and thanks again for responding.

All OK here, but got a problem to sort out.

My installation of Voyetra seems to have got corrupted, but I've still got the install files so can re-install. Once that's done, I should be able to import your .SNG, then export as .MID. Check that that file works, and send it on to you. Take an extra day or two.

FYI, MIDISoft Studio (Windows 98) can not open the file. I've used it previously to convert a SNG file, but apparently this one is a different format internally.

Right, the re-install went OK, there was the one file only that was damaged, the rest of the setup was fine.

Your file seems to load OK. I managed to find the option to save as MIDI, and did so. The result seems to be OK, I used the options to save everything into the midi file, but I've no way to tell for sure if everything is as you want, so decided to send anyway.

FLIP.ZIP should be attached, containing F1.MID.

I've still got everything set up, so if there's any problem I can soon try again.

Hmm?

Right, I've dived in and played the file. It plays OK, and sounds as if it might be correct, or maybe it's got some of the instrumentation wrong, so it just seems more wierd than it ought to? Too many drums? Some parts sound more reasonable than others?

Should play through for you, you should be able to tell if it's correct.

Let me know please if it is as you created the 'song'.

Geoff,
It worked perfectly! Now the remix of this song begins. Thank you so much again for doing this for me. If you are interested and give me your email account I would be happy to give you access to our last two releases Gazebo and Ahora available on my google drive.
Thanks again and I will also send you a mp3 of my original composition Flipside, on our UP cd, so you can hear what it sounds like.

Thanks for the update.

Actually, just the re-mixed MIDI file would be best. I can replay it either using the VST system via SynthFont (which is how I tried the present version), or I can play the file using my analog setup (my Roland LAPC-I card supplying MIDI to my Yamaha MU90r box, or to the Korg NS5r, and see which sounds best?

You're in Baltimore - I was there once. Maybe before you were born? 1978. I was visiting some people I knew at Avalon Hill.
