Hello, I am almost a total newbie to midi and musical sofware (apart from Finale 
), but I would really like to learn.
I want to buy a keyboard that I can use as a midi controler( in my head this means that I want to hook it up to my pc via usb and use it to write music/and make it sound like different instruments(vst) in a program like ableton or logic.
My question would be, can the Roland Go keys be connected via usb and used in such a manner? And also, without and external audio interface, would it lag?
I am asking this becasue I couldnt really understand it from the manual online, and, about the lag I read on a forum that if you connect it in a usb3.o port it wouldnt lag(given you a have relatively good cpu, which I think I have)

Yes, you can use the keyboard as you describe, however, latency (lag) is not related to the USB connection. Only MIDI data is transmitted over USB from the keyboard to the computer. Latency is introduced when software receives the MIDI message and then has to route the MIDI data to something like a software VST instrument or an external MIDI module. The biggest factors to consider for latency are the computer's processing speed and the audio device driver, both of which have nothing to do with MIDI. I encourage you to post to a forum such as KVR to get help in that area.

I am also newbie. I am using the cheapest Midiplus MiniEngine MIDI Sound Module. The user can connect it to any USB MIDI keyboard directly. you can includes 128 GM built-in sound with a maximum polyphony of 64 notes. The Roland Go Piano has USB MIDI and also Bluetooth MIDI so you should be able to connect it to your Mac and Logic Pro. Typically these MIDI devices use class compliant drivers so nothing extra need to be installed.
