I recently submitted MusicNote Haven MIDI Manager to the 2026 MIDI Innovation Awards.

It is a desktop application I am building for musicians, keyboard players, MIDI collectors and digital music archivists who have large or messy MIDI/KAR collections.

The goal is simple: make old MIDI archives usable again.

Current focus areas include:

indexing large .mid, .midi and .kar collections

searching and filtering files

listening to files while reviewing them

organizing files into a cleaner library structure

preserving older keyboard, karaoke and floppy-era MIDI archives

I am especially interested in feedback from people who still use, collect, repair, archive or maintain MIDI files and older keyboard song libraries.

I would be very interested to hear what features or workflows would be most useful to other MIDI users and archivists.

I'm the creator of Eldoraudio, a suite of tools focused on audio-to-MIDI conversion. I've spent the last couple of years going deep on automatic music transcription, starting with piano-to-MIDI using a custom-trained model, and currently building out guitar transcription.

One thing I keep running into is how differently the MIDI community uses transcription output. Some people want note-perfect MIDI for sheet music generation, others want something that captures the performance feel even at the cost of some accuracy, and others are piping it straight into a DAW where timing quantization matters more than dynamics.

Curious what this community's experience has been: what's the most frustrating gap you've hit between what audio-to-MIDI tools produce today and what you actually need the output to do? And which instrument has felt most underserved?

Taking debouncing aside and velocity, a diode matrix scan of 4 rows by 8 columns requires some logic to maintain the pressed notes, that is, once the key event occurs, the note got to be played. Some bookkeeping has to be made, reflecting the fact that it has to be remembered that it had been played. As soon as it disappears from the scan balance, it got to be muted and taken out of the momentarily active notes. etc. etc.

Is this bookkeeping algorithm available somewhere? I'm aware, that reflecting velocity adds some level of complexity.

I’ve been using Band-in-a-Box since the DOS era and I’m trying to restore the *standalone* Roland Virtual Sound Canvas 3.2 on a modern system.

My BIAB MegaPak discs only include the DXi Lite version, which doesn’t contain the core engine files (VscSys.dll, VscCtrl.dll, etc.).

I’m hoping someone in the community still has the **full retail VSC 3.2 installer** or a complete installed folder from an older Windows system.

This is for personal use with long-term GM/GS projects. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
